Have you ever wondered why you should “pray” when God knows everything?Consider that question for a moment. If God is “all knowing”, “all seeing”, and “omnipresent” why is it a requirement that you communicate to Him about your needs and desires? Why does God tell us in the New Testament to “pray without ceasing”?Couldn’t He just “zap” you an answer before you even start to speak or think it?Does God have a kind of “sadistic side” to Himself and He wants you to perform to get the things you need?Does He answer your request if you “word it” “just right” and ignore you until you do?What is the point in praying to a God that already knows exactly what you need?
The answer is simple. You need to pray to God because your thoughts and beliefs have been separated from Him in some manner.“Prayer” doesn’t change the mind of God, prayer changes and renews your mind. When you “talk” to God about your situation with the expectation that He not only “hears” you when you speak, but He cares and has already made provision for you, it renews yourmind with Histruth.
Daniel recorded the account of an angel who appeared to him and told him why his “prayer” was delayed:
Then said he (the angel) unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.(Dan 10:12-13 KJV)
I know that this passage has been declared as the “proof” of demonic power and influence but the reality is that the “demonprince” only was able to “delay” the “answer” to Daniel’s prayer as long as Daniel’s thoughts and beliefs separated him from the truth of God.The angel told Daniel that “from the first day” his words were heard. Why did it take twenty one days for the answer to come? Daniel had “set his heart to understand” the truth and deliverance of God and “from that first day” his “prayer” had been heard by God.Daniel “chastened” himself to change and renew his own thoughts and beliefs so that they incorporated the truth of God that already existed. He prayed not to change the mind of God, but to change his own mind so that he could encompass the greater truth and reality that God had already provided.
As Daniel prayed and believed that God would provide and deliver him and his people in the situation he was changing the thoughts and beliefs in his subconscious mind.He was not praying for the benefit of an “all knowing” God, he was praying so that his mind could be renewed to the truth of God’s provision in the face of adversity.Around him in the physical realm he could “see” the opposition but he turned his attention from this (through prayer) to the promise of God’s faithfulness. He was not changing the existing reality (which already contained the solution). He was changing his own perspective and interpretation of that reality so that he could experience the truth that was always there and gain access to that solution.
Instead of seeing the opposition Daniel created in his thinking the place where God could move in with provision and fulfill the need.
Through his prayer Daniel created a mental container that God’s truth could “rush into”!Once Daniel had formed this mental construct that included the intervention of God―the angel was able to reach him with the valuable information and direction.
All realities and potentials already exist but your own thinking about a specific situation creates the reality for you.The truth of any situation is all around you but you will only “see” and experience what you have made a part of yourself or your state of being. When God makes a promise to you He is encouraging you to call those things that do not yet exist in manifestation into existence. There may be other things “manifested” that are not the will of God but if you focus on His promise you are giving your attention to the “unseen” things of God.You are connecting to His supernatural ability in place of what you currently “see” as being available.
Remember, God has already provided all that you will ever need or desire but the problem is that you are separated from God and His provision by your “thinking”.You can only “see” what is currently manifested and as long as you focus on this―nothing will change. The way to make positive change is through prayer to a loving God that you know is listening and that you know will answer you.
But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].(Heb 11:6 AMP)
That answer is all around you but only through prayer and communication with God can you change your own thinking so that it includes the promise of God.
You are not waiting on God to “do something” about your situation you are reprogramming your subconscious mind so that you can experience His promised provision in your reality.Prayer changes things because prayer changes your thinking and so your perception about what is actually available beyond your limited physical sight.Prayer breaches the gap between God’s love for you and your thinking that is separated from this love through sin consciousness and self condemnation.
By looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith instead of looking at the circumstances we can at last “see” the love of the Father toward us through the imputed righteousness of Christ. This righteousness allows us to have faith that God hears us and that He will reward us if we change our thinking about any situation to include His provision.God “hears us” because we have “right standing” with Him and there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.
He will reward us because “it is already done” from God’s perspective and the solution is apparent to God.What we need to do is understand and focus on God’s provision and ability and expect the positive change to occur in the physical reality. We do this by avoiding the flesh mindset and by walking in the Spirit of obedience to God.We renew our minds constantly with the directive to “pray without ceasing”.This prayer is not asking God to change things. It is instead a declaration of God’s ability and faithfulness to meet every need when we ask and seek Him.
If a symptom of any kind “persists” it is a result of the fact that it exists within your own thoughts and beliefs. As a man thinks so is he…The way to rid yourself of the symptom is not to fight people or demons.Your relief is to makeprogress toward and eventually reach the goal of perfection that God has set as His promise to you by constantly renewing your thinking through the prayer of belief!
